Origin

I just finished this 12" x 16" pastel. I call it "Origin" because it shows the alpine glacier lakes where our freshwater supplies originate from. This particular scene is Lake Marie, located in the beautiful Snowy Mountain Range in southern Wyoming. I've painted similar scenes from the Rawah Wilderness area in northern Colorado.

I've actually had guests from other areas, when viewing these always present alpine glaciers from a distance claim that "those white areas must be sand, because it's impossible to have snow in August"!!!! Imagine their surprise and delight to dismount and make snowballs when we finally reached those areas in the Rawahs after 4 hours on horseback!
