Fishing on Crystal Lake

Each June, both the states of Colorado and Wyoming have a "free fishing" Saturday. For that day, everyone is welcome to fish, and no fishing license is required. Although my husband usually buys an annual fishing license, I do not, as I'm usually set up with my easel and paints while he fishes. But I do try to take advantage of the free fishing day to cast my line, and sometimes I even catch a fish or two!

Here's a little plein aire oil that I painted when I got bored with fishing. I never did catch anything that day! David reminds me that it is hard to catch fish if the line isn't in the water!

This is a scene from beautiful Crystal Lake, near Cheyenne, Wyoming. I donated this little painting to a fundraiser auction.
