This is a portrait of my friend Jon's Arabian gelding, Shariff. I've known Jon and Shariff for about 15 years, and Shariff is getting up there in years. I've spent countless hours riding with Jon, him on Shariff, and me on Topaz, and Rawah since I've lost Topaz. I've also ridden Shariff from time to time, and it was always a delight. A well trained, perfect gentleman who is quick on his feet and floats through the sagebrush. I've wanted to do this painting for a long time, and finally got it done for Jon. I call it "The Wise Old Man".
